Mrs. Margot Stephenson-Crawford
Margôt P. Stephenson, AICP, Guyanese-born with familial ties to Barbados and Trinidad, commits her extensive experience in strategic planning, fiscal oversight, and community-centered leadership to advancing educational opportunities and support for individuals with dyslexia throughout the Caribbean. As a Trustee of the Caribbean Dyslexia Centre, she contributes extensive experience in education, program development, community-centered leadership and development, strategic planning, workforce planning, public-sector program management, and fiscal oversight to support the Centre’s mission of improving opportunities for individuals with dyslexia.
With more than three decades of experience in architecture, urban and regional planning, and community development, she currently serves as a Facility Program Manager for the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command. In this role, she provides senior leadership and budgetary oversight for asset management and the planning, design, acquisition, and construction of facilities supporting Marine Corps programs in the United States and overseas. As an Associate Professor at Tuskegee University, Ms. Stephenson created the core curriculum that launched the university’s historic preservation program and urban design studio. She also established outreach initiatives that advanced hands-on learning opportunities for students through local practicums and international internships. She has also worked with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development establishing partnerships with nonprofit organizations to advance affordable housing and community development initiatives. She holds degrees and credentials from Princeton University, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Pennsylvania.
